During the year outings are arranged to towns and districts where there are places of historical interest. Members are thus privileged to view houses and buildings not normally accessible to the general public.

OUTING TO HEROLD’S BAY & AREA

SATERDAY 15 SEPTEMBER 2018

Ons kom bymekaar omtrent 11:15 naby die

Stella Mare kerk te Heroldsbaai.

PLEASE DO NOT ENTER THE CHURCH UNTIL 11:30

as we may disturb persons using the church for prayer.

The outing will firstly focus on the historical development of Herold’s Bay and the Stella Mare church in particular.

Mel Walton, long a resident of Herold’s Bay, will then talk about the general history of the resort and the Stella Mare church.

Daarna sal deelnemers ‘n strandpiekniek kan geniet of Hake & Chips [R 80] by Dutton’s Cove restourant eet.

[If you intend to eat at Dutton’s Cove restaurant, please SMS that intention to Allen Duff (082 722 6585) so that the restaurant has some idea of numbers.]

14:15 Kom ons weer bymekaar by die ingang van Dutton’s Cove restourant & then we proceed together for the second focus of the outing which is the disused Dutton’s Cove Laerskool bo-op die bult [omtrent 3 km]. Bring ‘n stoel saam.

A talk by Heritage architect, Henry Paine, about the building’s architecture will conclude the outing.
